FC Dallas Defeats LAFC 1-0 as Urhoghide Header Delivers Three Points

FC Dallas didn’t need a spectacular night to get the job done. They just needed one moment, and Osaze Urhoghide made sure they got it.

Urhoghide’s first-half header gave FC Dallas a 1-0 win over LAFC on Saturday night at Toyota Stadium, earning Dallas another three valuable points as the regular season heads toward its final stretch.

The game started with both teams feeling each other out. Chances were limited, and for much of the opening half hour, it looked like the two sides might head into halftime without a breakthrough.

Then Dallas found its opening.

In the 34th minute, Joaquín Valiente stepped up to take a corner and sent a dangerous ball into the box. Urhoghide rose above the LAFC defense and powered his header toward the goal, leaving goalkeeper Hugo Lloris with little chance.

Toyota Stadium erupted.

The goal was Urhoghide’s second of the season, while Valiente picked up another assist during what has been an impressive campaign for the Dallas midfielder.

LAFC came out of halftime looking determined to change the game. The visitors pushed forward more often and began creating problems for the Dallas defense.

In the 73rd minute, it looked like they had finally found their equalizer.

Armindo Sieb put the ball into the back of the net following a corner, and for a moment, LAFC thought they had pulled level. But after the officials reviewed the play, the goal was ruled out because Sieb was judged to have fouled Dallas goalkeeper Jonathan Sirois in the buildup.

Dallas breathed a sigh of relief.

The final minutes became a test of composure. LAFC kept pushing, while FC Dallas dropped deeper and fought to protect its one-goal advantage.

Then, with the clock running down, Sirois came up with the save Dallas needed.

A late opportunity fell to LAFC’s Sergi Palencia, but Sirois stood tall and kept the ball out, preserving the clean sheet and sending the home crowd into another celebration.

For Sirois, the performance came on a special night as he made his 100th MLS regular-season appearance.

The win also keeps Dallas moving in the right direction. FC Dallas climbed to 47 points and extended its unbeaten run to six games, while recording back-to-back shutouts.

There was another moment for Dallas fans to enjoy as well. New signing Daniel Job entered the match in the 80th minute, making his MLS debut for the club.

It wasn’t a night filled with goals or constant attacking fireworks.

It didn’t have to be.

Dallas found its moment, defended its lead and held on when it mattered most.

One goal. One clean sheet. Three points.

And on a night like this, that’s more than enough.
